AFSIA awards ENGIE Equatorial Mini-grid of the Year 2021
Project led by ENGIE Energy Access and Equatorial Power Ltd. in partnership | Mini-grid will empower 15,000 people on Lolwe Island, Uganda | 2.0 mini-grid will build the future of distributed energy access in Africa
Paris, France / Berlin, Germany - 17 November 2021
ENGIE Energy Access is delighted to have been awarded AFSIA (Africa Solar Industry Association) 'Mini-grid of the Year 2021' for its ENGIE Equatorial hybrid mini-grid project on Uganda's Lolwe Island.
ENGIE Energy Access COO Maxime Marion was at the prestigious ceremony on November 16, 2021, to pick up the award. The ceremony took place during the Africa Energy Forum in London, UK.
This partnership with Equatorial Power Ltd. will provide the remote community on Lolwe island with clean energy to empower their prosperity through productive use, impacting 15,000 lives. It addresses the urgent need of the local population that was lacking access to energy, clean water and much more.
ENGIE Energy Access and Equatorial Power Ltd. are confident that their partnership is helping to build the future of distributed energy access and rural service delivery in Africa. Further information on the Lolwe Island project will follow in due course.
