AFSIA awards ENGIE Equatorial Mini-grid of the Year 2021

Paris, France / Berlin, Germany - 17 November 2021

ENGIE Energy Access is delighted to have been awarded AFSIA (Africa Solar Industry Association) 'Mini-grid of the Year 2021' for its ENGIE Equatorial hybrid mini-grid project on Uganda's Lolwe Island.

EEA COO Maxime Marion was at the prestigious ceremony on November 16, 2021 to pick up the award. The awards took place during the Africa Energy Forum in London, UK.

The EEA partnership with Equatorial Power Ltd. will provide the remote community on Lolwe island with clean energy to empower their prosperity through productive use. It addresses the urgent need of the local population that was lacking access to energy, clean water and much more.

EEA and Equatorial Power Ltd. are confident that their partnership is helping to build the future of distributed energy access and rural service delivery in Africa. Further information on the Lolwe Island project will follow in due course.
